Standard fare. We ate here due to a free breakfast coupon from the Quality Inn next door. The restaurant was clean and service was friendly. The food was fine, nothing to write home about...typical roadside diner food...but we cleaned our plates .

Great spot on way to Grand Canyon! The soup/salad bar was tasty and fresh, and the Navajo dishes definitely worth trying.

Comments about standard fare are correct, but the quality of the food is very good. Service was good, selection was large and they even had a veggie burger. Much better than I expected in such a small town.

Four stars for the Navajo Taco (you'll need to add a little salt!). I've had other things on the menu but wasn't a huge fan. I'd stick with the traditional Navajo food on the menu and you'll be happy. Great place though and cute building.

After dropping Schoolteacher off at the North Rim, I stopped in at the Grand Canyon Visitor Center, and asked the rangers about my upcoming trip around the canyon. They suggested I see some things, Lee's Ferry, Cliff Dwellers, the Navajo Bridge, the Dinosaur Footprints, and then they highly insisted I try something called 'Navajo Tacos' in Tuba City. My drive around the canyon was beautiful and grand, I visited most of their suggested sights, and when I pulled into Tuba City, I looked for some place that had the fabled 'Navajo Tacos.' Tuba City wasn't nearly the 'City' I was expecting, and this was one of the nicest restaurants I saw while visiting the place. Hogan's Restaurant is located right next to the Tuba City trading post and the Hopi Museum. As I entered, I earnestly hoped they had the Tacos I was questing for. I was quite relieved when I saw a special board advertising them. The place was pretty quiet, and mostly empty on a Tuesday afternoon. I could only see two other occupied tables in the whole place. I stood by the waitress booth, was quickly greeted fairly quickly, lead to a table, and given directions to the bathrooms. (I'd just been in a car for several hours!) The bathroom was clean, and I made sure to wash my hands before returning to the table where I perused the menu. The menu had all the classics, and a few new items I'd have liked to try, but I was here for the Navajo taco, which is apparently famous here at Hogan's Restaurant. I found it on the menu and ordered one and an iced tea to wash it down with. It arrived before too long, and it appeared to be an open faced taco, sitting upon the local Fry Bread. Beef, beans and cheese were buried under a quite healthy salad and topped with a big decorative pepper. It was interesting and quite visually appealing. A tub of salsa had been placed on top just in case I needed it. I took the yelp photo, and then dug in. I tore off a bit of frybread to try it, and it was actually pretty darned good on its own, fluffy and tasty. Afterwards I was quite stuffed to the gills. I took care of the bill ($14.70 with tax & tip) and then exited the place. The employees thanked me, and wished me a safe trip and hoped for my return to Hogan's restaurant. Now that I think about it, I'd kinda like to get back there some day, some of the other frybread items did look quite appetizing. Good job Hogan's Restaurant.

The interior gives a natural ambience. It's clean and simple. The menu is mixed American and Mexican style dish. They also have a salad bar. The staff are attentive and pleasant. The place is clean and well kept including the restroom. Now the food. Kids meal are plentiful and have complemented my two boys. My wife enjoyed the Open face roast beef sandwich. Though there was a lot of meat that she couldn't finish them. My taco salad was mediocre. It was more been than meat or green. I've had better from Robertos Mexican Food for less. In conclusion, food is pleasing but nothing extravagant with a hometown feel. Price won't kill your wallet. And a good place to stop and eat peacefully. Also note there's a museum next door about the "Windtalkers" (Navajo War Veterans) . Hoorah!

For tuba city this restaurant is a four star but in a bigger city like Denver it's a two star.

Come here for the frybread and the Navajo dishes. Everything else is basically Sysco-standard cafeteria food. Hubby and I were not hungry, so we just ate off the salad bar, which was OK. The kids had pizza and chicken fingers, and while they thought they were just fine, the pizza looked disgusting to the grownups. We shared some frybread with honey, and it was great, but they were either almost out of honey or just didn't want to fill the honey bears, because we were given 3 bottles with 1/2 an inch of honey in each and spent a while wrestling with the bottles to get a few drops of honey. I wish I could come back and try the lamb stew. I've had a Navajo taco here before and enjoyed it.

Great restaurant in a town otherwise filled with chain restaurants. All of the servers appeared to be Navajo--the restaurant is on the Navajo Nation Reservation. While they do have traditional diner fare---including a salad buffet and a lunch buffet that changes daily (Mexican, Navajo, etc...) I ate here several years ago while staying at the Quality Inn and doing some medical work on the reservation so my husband and I specifically came here for some authentic Navajo fare. It did not disappoint! I got the Fry Bread and Chili beans and my husband got the Mutton Stew that came with a side of fry bread. Sooo good! And to top it off, we had the dessert fry bread---topped with powdered sugar, cinnamon and honey. Not to be missed. And the waitress very nicely filled my water bottle with cold ice water which was needed after spending the day in the hot dessert. If you find yourself in Tuba City, make sure to hit up Hogan's Family Restaurant!

My family ate dinner here during our stay in Tuba City and we all enjoyed our food. We had the chicken fajitas and the chicken tacos and they were both wonderful. The servers were friendly and the cost was reasonable. They have a good variety of food on the menu with some Navajo specialties. There is a little gift shop in the front of the place that sells locally made goods which were really neat. Plus this place is right across the way from the Code Callers museum and the Navajo museum which is super cool.

Breakfast was very good. We rec. the scramblers. You get a lot of food. Bathrooms were so-so. We would stop again.

I'd say it's worth skipping the chain restaurants in town to come here. The decor is pleasant, A large menu of standard fare, with some Navajo specialties. I can't speak for the other dishes, but I had the mutton stew, which was tasty with chunks of mutton and fresh vegetables in a light broth. The fry bread was light and melt-in-your mouth. However, my wife had the Navajo taco, which she said was awful.

If the only thing I can order on a menu are the chicken wings then it's really bad. I cook Native American food and this was far from it. My sister ordered the Mutton Stew with fry bread and it was bland. Very bland. My chicken wings were over-cooked and disguised with hot sauce. Coffee was Seattle's Best which is far from the best for me. Then I asked: What is the fried chicken 'navajo-style'? Waitress: It's not so much navajo-style fried chicken, it's the portion. The plate comes with 4 big pieces of fried chicken, cole slaw, baked beans, french fries, etc. It's the size of the plate. Me: Wow! That sounds like a heart attack or diabetes waiting to happen. Waitress: Yeah, it's a lot of food. Me: A lot of unhealthy food. And I thought when it read 'native-style' you were going to say it was cooked in lard. Waitress: Who knows. Maybe it is cooked in lard. Me: OMG! Okay.

Dinner with the family after a long day hiking. The place has some authenticity over it but the interior is tired. The food is based on too much routine from the kitchen but is as expected in terms of taste and fresh ingredients.

We're staying at the hotel for a couple of days. We've tried several other eateries in town and this is the better of the bunch. Mom and I had breakfast here twice. I Had sausage, egg, hash browns and navajo tortilla for breakfast. Mom had bacon, eggs, watermelon and navajo tortilla. The tortillas were delicious, light and fluffy. The eggs were cooked as ordered. Hash browns were the frozen type and cooked nicely. Watermelon was fresh and tasty. Only disappointment was the sausage was cold and coffee was too strong for my liking. I prefer a medium roast but I'm sure it will please others. The 2nd morning I had the biscuit and gravy hotel guest special. It was fine and tasty. Hash browns were golden, crispy and tasty. Mom had bacon and the homemade tortilla again. She thinks the tortillas are the best especially with butter. She also had the fresh fruit bowl. This was delicious, especially with the fresh strawberries. Last night we had the soup and salad bar. The green chili stew was excellent! Just the right amount of kick. The stew was great with a tortilla. For lunch we had the BBQ buffet. The roasted beef ribs and spare ribs were great, so great mom went back for another rib.

Can't really relate to the "great service" posts on here. Been here twice. Once for dinner, once for breakfast. Both experiences were devastating. Service was super slow and anything but motivated. The food was mediocre. My sandwich was quite okay. Every other food that our party ordered was simply too cold, like luke warm. Our complaint made it even worse: the waitress took our food to the kitchen to "heat it up"--well, didn't work out, the food was even colder. I'm glad we didn't have to pay for the cold food... and thank god there's a MacDonalds right across the street. I really wanted to like this place.

Grim. The people were nice but that's it. $2.50 for a diet coke (they do refill). The "chili" is nothing more than kidney beans and chili powder with cheese melted on top. In a town where Denny's is the number 3 restaurant one would be advised to pack a lunch if visiting Tuba City.

A great place for a frybread, Navajo Taco, or just a burger. The restaurant is well kept, has a nice decor, and the service is efficient. The restaurant is next to the Tuba City Trading Post along with a motel and coffee shop. To the tourist in the area: check it out!

Well-decorated and attractive. Food has a good selection. I was a bit miffed, though, when I asked for no toast (I am a celiac sufferer) and they dropped the toast right in the middle of the plate, dropping crumbs everywhere. When I said I didn't want toast the waitress looked at me blankly and said, "that's the way the kitchen does it." I managed to pick out most of the crumbs from my eggs but I still had a mild reaction later. TL;DR: not good for food allergy sufferers.

I was with a big group for dinner, and I got the soup and salad bar: you can eat as much as you want. They had the standard salad bar selections: lettuce, olives, onions, croutons, etc, as well as potato salad, macaroni salad, cole slaw, and carrot salad. They had two different soups that day: Green chile soup (it had potatoes, meat, and green chiles) and Clam chowder. I was hoping for more Navajo cuisine on the menu, but there are only about 3-4 selections. One person got the mutton stew with frybread, and he said it was a bit bland. Other people got steaks, fajitas, etc and it seemed pretty good.

Great service! Food was delicious and the servers were considerate and nice. My friends are vegan and there were options for them as well.
(5)Belen S.
I actually thought the food was solidly good. There were details that were spectacular, like the salsa served with the breakfast burritos and the breakfast sausage links. Why two stars? Despite the staff being painfully nice, the service was just so disappointing. At dinner, we ordered steak carnitas y enchiladas ( a $17 dish), which came with 4 tortillas and avocados that didn't arrive with the meal. When we asked about it, the waitress looked very confused and clearly didn't know what was on the menu, and then came back with guacamole and told us they were out of tortillas. Out of tortillas? On a Saturday night at a Mexican restaurant? That's some poor management. At breakfast, I ordered a southwestern burrito but ended up getting the other one, and didn't realize it until I was already eating. It was good, but annoying that I didn't get what I ordered. I'm a pretty easy going diner, but this was just disappointing and annoying. If you have patience and a wide palette, it's fine, but it's obvious that the staff isn't well trained or managed.

Came here Jan of 2012 Cozy Diné dinner food is not bad and not great~Food will fulfill your needs for the surrounding area. Come here and please don't act like a tourist~Its not appreciated!

Better off going with the fast food restaurants. 1) Forever to get my food 2) Soup is bland 3) Pork loin bland 4) Too much noise coming from the kitchen
(2)Eric E.
It seemed to us that this was the only game in town unless you wanted KFC, McDonald's, Taco Bell or Denny's. Gave it whirl and we weren't disappointed! Try the local Navajo cuisine on the menu for something different. Good stuff! Has an adequate salad bar for lunch and dinner. Decent atmosphere, friendly staff, good choice instead of fast food.
(4)Kristan P.
Do not go here! Save yourself the complete disappointment an go somewhere else. Their food is low quality (as if they just stuck it in a microwave from a frozen product and served it). The servers were slow and did not pay any attention to our table. We had to ask for our bill after waiting a 20 min. A few more things to add... They had a broken tv playing the Simpsons (the screen was hal viewable due to the screen being broken) The salad bar was out of salad and we had to ask several people until we found one that understood how to put more salad out I have never had trouble by ordering wings at any restraunt, they were awful

I'd love to tell you about the food here but it's been 30 minutes and I still don't know. It was 10 minutes before we got drinks. Oh. They were out of creamer but it was another 10 before we saw anyone to ask about it. Also out of sausage. On a Sunday morning. Now our order has finally arrived. They're apparently also out of black beans, red peppers, English muffins, nuts, and must have run out of hash browns before one of our meals was prepared, because those are all the things missing from various dishes. Even with the coupons from our hotel stay this was NOT worth it. As a former waiter it takes a LOT for me to not tip, but this guy earned it. We're also not paying for the one meal that wasn't eligible for our coupon because half our meals were half missing. I'm usually very easy going but I'm furious.

I went here because I'm staying in Tuba City on the way to Grand Canyon and there aren't many options in this town. I checked Yelp first and walked in expecting to get pretty generic diner food that wouldn't overly impress me. Everyone was friendly and helpful when we walked in so that was a good start. The menu has pretty standard fare with some native food from the area. They've got taco salads, burgers, steaks, spaghetti, salad/soup bar plus some Navajo dishes which all come with frybread. We did get some unexpected (but pretty good) chips and salsa before our meal, bonus! As an aside, they also have a daily buffet from 11-2 that sounded good but we didn't get the chance to try that. I ordered a regular cheeseburger with cheddar cheese and had it on the frybread instead of a bun. It came with fries, coleslaw and a pickle for $7.50. I thought it was quite good, the frybread actually made the burger better even though it's obviously less healthy since it's deep fried bread. The fries were fresh cut and cooked well and the coleslaw was good too. The only thing that wasn't very good was their egg drop soup (which is a weird thing to have at this place anyway IMO), it had some cabbage and carrots in it and just wasn't that flavorful. Overall, it's probably as good of food as you'll find in this town if you're traveling through and I recommend that you try it if you're here and need something to eat. I'd say it's 3.5 stars but not quite 4, don't be scared to eat here.

While staying at adjoining Quality Inn we went 3 times to this restaurant due to its convenience, friendly staff and decent food. We had a coffee break, a dinner and a breakfast here. The Navaho dishes are really good (and hot and spicy) and the other food is tex-mex and seems fresh. All staff and manager were very attentive and we had no problems. The menu does not have very many vegetarian or fresh fruit items, but overall you can find something healthy and tasty. Since you are still in the Navaho Nation there's no alcohol so you'll miss a beer with your taco or burger! It's near the Trading Post and a very interesting Navaho Museum (an exhibit and history with stuff for kids to do). Everything is wheelchair accessible and well marked.
(4)Bryce B.
Ate here for dinner since we were staying at the Quality Inn and it pulled the best reviews in the city. The food was decent and the staff friendly. The Mutton Stew lacked some flavor and personally the frybread is too heavy for me, but others in my party enjoyed it. The ribs come with a lot of food and are pretty tasty. If we were to come through Tuba City again we'd be sure to eat here but if there were other options we'd probably pass.
(3)John B.
We stayed in the hotel next door and got coupons that made breakfast almost free. The pancakes were really good. So good they made me jealous 'cause the eggs were close to raw and I ordered eggs. The interior is .... um.... interesting. If I'd paid for the meal I'd be unhappy but it was nearly free. Move on.
(3)Rebecca B.
The food is good and somewhat quick - which if you are traveling in the area is not something you will always find. We ate here with our coupons for breakfast and also for lunch and all meals were warm and tasty. It is not gourmet but get over yourselves people - you are in Tuba City.
(4)Jeremy S.
Dinner: The service was good, food was okay. I had roast and peppers wrapped with frybread. The best part was the frybread, which was way good. Fried chicken meal was a large meal. Chicken was good, didn't like the jalepeno poppers or the biscuits. Breakfast: good service, food was good except for the sausage. Had French toast, bacon, sausage, and oatmeal. (others in the restaurant commented that the pancakes were very good)

Walking in here it looks ok, especially compared to the awful gas station town that is Tuba AZ. Traveling through we decided to stop here because it was on of the on non fast food options. Initially the services was prompt with are drinks, but then it took about 15 min to come and take our order, which would have been fine if it was busy but thee was only one other table with costumers. When we finally got our food (i got a burger) it was almost inedible, all of the vegetables tasted like they have been siting around for much to long, the burger patties were falling apart, and they had put this watered down BBQ sauce on it that was absolutely awful. the fries that came with it tasted like they had been sitting at the bottom of the freezer for 6 months, and like everything else they where absolutely dreadful. In short, food is bad, service is bad, don't go here if you have the ability to taste!!

It's been awhile since I've been to Tuba, so I though I'd try out the local food joint. This place is located next to a hotel for tourist so that's what you'll usually find eating in here along with the locals. The place is pretty well kept and has all the usual Indian painting and rugs to attract the tourist eye. My server took my order and drink at the same time so I figure she must have been trying to hurry me up. I ordered the sw burrito with a navajo tortilla and sausage. It was okay but the sauce which is either red or green, i got both just to try them, was not that flavorful. The onion and green peppers pretty much overcame the sausage, which there was very little of. Waitress didn't fill my drink until after I finished my meal but took the time to ask me how things were. My next visit, which probably won't be for awhile, I may have to try the dinners. But this place is a tourist spot for sure.
